Law Student Volunteer and Undergraduate Student Volunteer Roles

  • Hours: flexible (decided according to candidate availability)

    Location: Remote

    The Muslim Legal Support Centre is seeking Law and Undergraduate Student Volunteerswho will assist our team in different ways.

    The Law Student Volunteers will assist our staff lawyers by conducting legal research, supporting virtual drop-in clinics, and enhancing our Public Legal Education events.

    The Undergraduate Student Volunteers will assist our intake team and the clinic’s programming by helping with client intakes and other tasks on a needs basis.

    • Currently enrolled in a JD program

    • Strong understanding of confidentiality, privacy legislation, and professional boundaries.

    • Some knowledge of the Canadian judicial system and community resources.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

    • Understanding of access to justice challenges facing diverse communities such as Ontario’s Muslim community, including systemic racism, Islamophobia, and anti-Black racism.

    • Familiarity with video conferencing and online tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom).

    • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in social science, political science, law, humanities, or any relevant field.

    • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Suite.

    • Strong understanding of confidentiality, privacy legislation, and professional boundaries.

    • Some knowledge of the Canadian judicial system and community resources.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

    • Understanding of access to justice challenges facing diverse communities such as Ontario’s Muslim community, including systemic racism, Islamophobia, and anti-Black racism.

    • Familiarity with video conferencing and online tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom).
